History of Syariah Judiciary Department Kedah Darul Aman
At first, the Syariah Judiciary Department Kedah Darul Aman Mosque is located in the back country of Masjid Zahir.
In June 2009, the department has moved to a new building located in Federal Government Administrative Complex in Bandar Mua'dzam Shah.
Syariah Judiciary Department Kedah Darul Aman (JKSK) established by Section 3 (1) (2) (3) Enactment of the Syariah Court (Kedah) 1993. Its establishment came into force on 1 January 1996. Since its establishment to December 31, 1996 State of the Syariah Court safely administered together with Islamic Department Kedah (JAIK).
Starting January 1, 1997 the Department of Syariah Judiciary Kedah established and has been isolated from JAIK management and has its own administration, where Syariah Judiciary Department Kedah Darul Aman headed by a Chief Judge. Establishment was approved by the Treasury to the Department during JAIK isadministered jointly by 23 positions. Treasury subsequently approved the establishment of 29 additional posts in the establishment warrant of 2/96 in force October 1, 1995 and then increased again by 20 posts in the establishment warrant number 18 of 2000 with effect from 1 May 2000. On 13 June 2003 a total of 49 additional posts had been approved by establishment warrant number 7 of 2003 with effect from 1 November 2002.
Syariah Judiciary Department Kedah Darul Aman responsible for managing, hear and decide cases in all levels of Syariah Lower Court, Syariah High Court and Syariah Court of Appeal in the management of civil cases, criminal and Faraid.
